Common questions
Is it really free? Yes — the whole app is free, with no ads, no subscriptions, and nothing to unlock.
Do I need an account? No. There's no sign-up and no login. Everything works the moment you open the app.
Does it work offline? Yes. All of HSK 1–9 and the full dictionary are bundled in the app. The only time it uses the network is the optional device-to-device sync.
How does syncing my iPhone and iPad work? In Settings → Sync, scan the code shown on your other device. Your notebooks and progress then stay in step, end-to-end encrypted — no account required. Sync is entirely optional.
Will my progress survive an app update? Yes. Your notebooks, study history, and settings are kept in the app's private storage and are preserved across updates, and included in your device's normal encrypted backups.
What are the colors on the pinyin? Each syllable is colored by its tone — 1st red, 2nd green, 3rd blue, 4th purple, and neutral grey — so you learn a word's sound and shape together. You can turn tone coloring off in Settings if you prefer.
How do I add my own words? Tap + in any notebook, or tap a word in the Converter's pinyin output to save it. You can also make your own notebooks and share them with a link.
